It’s Sunday and we’d planned for the day to tour the Sanguinetti House/Musuem/Gardens in old Downtown Yuma. Got there and found it was closed! It seems that a lot of places are closed in Yuma on Sundays! There was a nice little boutique gift shop and cafe down a quaint alley behind the Sanguinetti House, so we checked that out a bit. Found only one “impressive” looking old building in the “Downtown,” which was only a couple of blocks long. Everything, as usual, was only one or two stories tall. 🙂 Courthouse, police station and other municipal buildings were also in the area and looked quite new and modern.
Yesterday, we picked up a ton of brochures and magazines about Yuma, Arizona tourism, and local RV parks. Stopped at an IGA to pick up a few things and then decided to go and look at some of the RV parks that we thought might be affordable for wintering over.
The first on our list was the farthest out of town. The GPS told us to drive 30 miles on I-8. We decided right then that we wouldn’t want to winter at a park that was at least 30 miles out of town. The second on the list was just 8 miles. 🙂 It was a nice drive there and there was a cluster of RV parks there that were all very similar – in fact the office buildings of each were literally duplicates of each other! Each of those parks seemed nice enough. They seemed pretty new, so didn’t have much of any established landscaping. We liked the first one we went to the best because it was the only one of the four parks that had a pool. It had a really large and clean laundry room and large clubhouse and listings for lots of daily activities. I believe it ran about $340 a month including TV, internet, and I think it said telephone. Price doesn’t include electricity. None of them do. I think we will definitely check this one out if we still want to winter down here. It had only a couple of trailers our size, whereas the other parks had more trailers that were similar to ours. Not sure why that is, other than it costs maybe $20 a month more.
Decided not to go to Cracker Barrell for lunch – IBS attack seemed to be looming. 🙁 So we came back home and had sandwiches and chilled for the afternoon. Showered and filled the fresh water tank in preparation for our leaving tomorrow morning. Planning on going back to Salton Sea since the weather forecast is for cooler weather there than here and they’re predicting some rain for here too. I don’t want to be in a boondocking area if it rains. Could get stuck.
